Sire Selection for genetic gain
Continual attention to classing, to make the right mating dicisions is essential to gain performance in fibre production.
The best way to select the right sire is to look at his progeny, and see what influences he places on them, and also how consistant he is with the quality and traits that he throws.

When you look at a group of crias, if they all look like peas in a pod, you do know they share the same sire, you are half way there.

Look at the important traits that he should be throwing.
Average size birth weights.6-8kg
conformation. and proportion,
no genetic visible faults    Softness of handle   density, and coverage   crimp style, then look at the stats, and compare histograms.
It is exciting to see you babies after all the planning you do in your endeavour to produce the quality you aim for

We have been advancing our herd to consistantly producing super fine (averageing 16 micron, and as fine as 12 micron) fleeces. The highest price is always paid for the finest, and most consistant.
